About SWPnet SWPnet is the online distribution channel for video content developed by Scott Winer Productions. Founded in 2004, SWPnet unites a wide variety of talent and experience into a team responsible for both the creative and technical aspects of production. SWPnet continues a tradition that began more than a decade ago. Starting with the Winer Studio in 1995, early programs were produced by Winer Entertainment Television (WETV). In 1997, WETV became the Winer Television Network (WTN). The arrival of 2000 marked the short-lived beginning of Scott Winer Productions, which was soon followed by 8H Productions. Named for New York's Studio 8H, home of Saturday Night Live, 8H Productions was the producing group for Winer's award-winning documentary debut, Inside the Game, as well as two of the first larger-scale music/variety programs that he directed, the 2001 Men's and Women's Regal Eagle talent competitions. In 2001, Winer founded Scott Winer Films, under which he directed several short films and his final documentary, Inside the Game II. Winer then revived SWP in 2003, developing STV for BFA Basketball, which received two honors from the Foundation of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. More than ten years since WETV's inception, SWPnet continued its tradition of television excellence with the award-winning variety show On'CUSE and KUJH's Jayhawk Sports Talk, bringing together a vastly-talented group of producers, directors, writers, camera operators, editors and consultants in order to develop groundbreaking television programming. In 2008, in an effort to streamline production and distribution, SWPnet was rebranded under the Scott Winer Productions name, beginning with the independent sketch-comedy show Mildly Off the Wall. |
